Two Cuts, One Chair

The Beam Chair is our studio's example of what minimal intervention, material-first design could look like: a reclaimed red oak beam succinctly transfigured into furniture. Only stock this large could be sectioned into the geometry of a lounge chair.
The wood was cut by hand, first in half and then quartered with two angled cuts. The seat and back rest were connected with oak dowels and then solid oak rails were added as feet. It's a heavy one for sure.
